Boston Specialty Coffee Expo
May 14, 2019
Each year the world coffee industry gathers at the Specialty Coffee Expo to collaborate, swap war stories, and discuss current and future trends.
In April, the Java Kai team flew to Boston to participate in this years expo. We sat through tons of lectures and took exhausting work shops and were lucky enough to meet some amazing giants in the coffee industry!
We submitted our Java Kai coffee bags to compete in the Design Lab competition for best packaging. There were hundreds of submissions from coffee shops and roasteries and while we didn’t win the overall competition, we’re very grateful to report we were top ten finalists. Our bags were displayed right in the middle of the convention for all 14,000 attendees to see!
Some of you may have notice we use La Morzocco espresso machines. La Marzocco has been making espresso machines in Italy for 90 years and they are true pioneers in the specialty coffee world. Each year they invite a few select roasteries to serve espresso at their booth. This year we got to be one of those select roasteries! And the highlight of the show for us was getting to serve our Kauai-roasted espresso to coffee professionals (and nerds)... and the wonderful feed back we received confirmed that we’re doing a pretty good job out here on this remote little island!
